Hi! I’m DR. Da Silva,
a licensed clinical psychologist
specializing in childhood trauma and adult relationships, including one of the most important relationships you’ll ever have- your relationship with yourself. My approach to therapy is direct, collaborative, and simultaneously compassionate and challenging. Through therapy, I aim to help you better understand why you feel, think, and behave the way that you do. I believe that understanding our whys helps us to make changes and live happier, healthier, and more authentically.

My approach: As an integrative therapist, I combine psychodynamic, somatic, relational, and skills-based approaches with up-to-date research on what works (and doesn’t!) and the connections between our brains and bodies.
Education and training: I am a New York City native, first generation college student, and a graduate of CUNY and SUNY. I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Hunter College where I completed training and research in cognitive science and graduated cum laude with departmental honors. I completed my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University at Albany, where in addition to my clinical training, I conducted research on health disparities and intimate partner violence, and was actively engaged in social justice advocacy on campus and in the community. I completed my clinical internship and postdoctoral training with North Bronx Healthcare Network, where I additionally supervised and oversaw our Psychology Interns’ Outpatient training. I have extensively worked with adults and adolescents across a range of outpatient and inpatient settings, including public and private hospitals, psychiatric emergency rooms, VA Medical Center’s Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinic, Bellevue’s World Trade Center Health Services for 9/11 survivors, and community mental health clinics, providing individual, group, and couples therapy, psychological testing, and organizational training.
Current work: I currently divide my time between direct clinical work, supervision, teaching, and consultation. As a clinical psychologist in private practice, I conduct psychotherapy with adult and adolescent clients. I develop and oversee mental health programming and research and supervise multidisciplinary staff, including mental health clinicians, social workers, treatment aids and students on Riker's Island. I also provide clinical consultation to individuals and organizations on trauma-informed care, intimate partner violence, and the development of responsive clinical programming, and supervise mental health practitioners looking to specialize in the treatment of trauma.
